SEIU 32BJ is growing fast by organizing workers who are fighting for a living wage, affordable healthcare, respect, and a voice in their future.  With 163,000 members SEIU 32BJ is the largest union representing property service workers in the country.  Our members have fought for and achieved high standards for private and public sector property service workers, and we continue to fight for higher standards for the thousands of unorganized workers.

What is the New Organizer Training Program (NOTP)?

The New Organizer Training Program is an opportunity to work on a union organizing campaign while receiving the training and labor education necessary to become a successful worker organizer. Through hands-on campaign opportunities, workshops, trainings, and labor history classes, new organizers learn to be forceful advocates for all working families. They will also work on the front lines of the struggle to increase our union’s power through organizing and improve the lives of all working people.

Goals for NOTP:

• Develop organizing skills
• Expose new organizers to field campaigns and training
• Move campaign specific goals forward

 

 Qualifications:

• Willingness to work long hours, nights, and weekends;
• Capacity to work independently and with a team;
• The ability to follow through on a work plan;
• Effective communications skills;
• Basic writing and computer skills;
• The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
• Willingness to conduct house visits and site visits;
• Fluency in English, Spanish and Amharic

COMPENSATION AND DETAILS:

The program will run several times throughout the year. The duration for each session is 12 weeks. The next training program is from June 10, 2019 to August 16, 2019. Participants are required to participate in the whole program. Participants receive $680 per week stipend and a travel allowance. Please check our website listed below for additional program dates.
